Beach School Group 1

"The art of teaching is the art of assisting discovery."

"I can't wait to find sea glass." Isabella

"Those waves are so big because of the wind. It so windy today and that's why they rough." Aaron

"I think it's from a old car tyre but it's gone rusty because it's been out there a thousand years ago and the stones got stuck in." Alice

"Beach school with daddy is my favourite day." Annabella

"RUN FOR IT!" Robyn

"Beach day is my favourite day." Jacob

"A cave, can we go inside?" Reuben

"The caves." Lilianna.

"I'm brave!" Annabella

Back at the Beach Hut we researched to find out if it is in fact the wind that controls the waves and the children were amazed with what they discovered. This was a discussion at the end of our session...

"Woah! So it's the moon? How does it work again?" Fred

"The gravity stops us from flying around." Reuben

"The moon has gravity too and it's trying to get the earth." Alice

"The world is always spinning but we can't feel it." Aaron

"The moon gravity tries to get us and it pulls the water." Fred

"That makes the tides. A high tide means there's not much beach." Alice

"And a low tide means that we can see the rock pools." Reuben

It is wonderful to observe  the children's awe, wonder and curiosity and to facilitate their learning as they begin to question why things happen. Thank you to our grown up helpers. I am sure that some of you enjoy Beach School as much as the children!
